Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope you had a fun weekend savoring these summer days. We’re one week away from moving Sloan in to her dorm room (see her room design and essentials HERE)… while also setting up space for Jackson. One leaves, and the other returns… part of that whole emotional blender I talked about!
He graduated in the spring and was offered an incredible job very near to us (yippee!), and we’re thrilled to have him live here until he gets in the swing of adulthood, while also saving money for his next steps.
We moved to this house two years ago, and since he worked an internship in Kansas last summer, he’s never actually lived in this house! He slept in the guest room when he visited, which is fairly small with minimal closet space, so we decided to transition the upstairs media room, with larger closet and bathroom, for him. This gives him, and us, a little more privacy.
I’m sure there will be some growing pains as we adjust to this new living situation, but I’m thrilled to have him home, and to buffer the transition to empty-nesting for us! Plus, we have a built-in house and dog sitter, which is perfect since I plan to take full advantage of our newfound freedom. I joked to Mr. SP that we’re taking a year-long Freedom Tour… which we all know is really just a way of distracting myself from Sloan leaving.
The media room has actually just been an empty space, so it’s a perfect blank slate. He’ll likely take it all with him when he moves out, so we wanted it to not only work in this house, but be the style he’ll want as he transitions to his own space.
These Switzerland posters he picked up on our trip were the inspiration for the room, and of course I went straight to Wayfair for the rest! Every single room in my house has a Wayfair find, from beds and sconces to cabinet hardware and rugs. It’s the first place I go when looking for anything home-related!

Funny enough, one our fave Wayfair finds are these box springs. They arrive disassembled in a box for easier shipping and delivery, and are so affordable and easy to assemble.
They also have great outdoor finds, so if you’re doing a little mid-season spruce up, here are some great deals. We found our outdoor dining table and bistro chairs at Wayfair, and both have held up great for years!
