Happy Tuesday, friends! How was your weekend? I loved every second of Sloan being home for the big OU/Texas weekend (we won’t speak of the game, but the company was great!)… even though we didn’t see her much, I grabbed a hug at every possible opportunity!
There was a moment after everyone left, it was just the four of us laughing in the kitchen, and I felt my heart relax in a way it hadn’t since we dropped her off 2.5 months ago. Just complete peace at having my people together in one space.
And the funny thing is, I wasn’t really aware of that dull ache in my heart, until it went away. And now she’s gone again, and the ache is back… I recognize it now. It isn’t near as pronounced as when we first dropped her, but I have a feeling it will always be there.
I’m not allowing myself to wallow in it though, but rather focus on the good things that come with this new season… bring on the Freedom Tour! There is certainly a lot of joy in the freedom that comes with not having kids at home, and Mr. Sugarplum and I are taking full advantage! Even if it’s only because being away helps us to miss her less, ha!
Last month we celebrated Mr. SP’s birthday with a road trip from Vegas to Joshua Tree, followed by a few nights in Palm Springs. I’ll share the full itinerary and Trip Report on the blog soon, and you can see peeks of it all HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Would you believe we spent three nights in Vegas, and didn’t even step foot in a casino?! Mr. SP spent years playing shows up and down the Strip, so his focus was on the concerts and hiking the nearby parks. Joshua Tree was all about the hiking, too, so I hit up one of my favorite spots for all things activewear and athleisure… Nordstrom!
They have a huge selection of every top brand, from Vuori and Beyond Yoga, to adidas and Spanx. Even Aviator Nation, Sweaty Betty, and Varley… they have it all!
And of course, one of my long-time faves, the Nordstrom house brand, Zella! The quality is incredible, and the styles hold up to vigorous wear and years of laundering! In fact, many of my styles have been in rotation for five+ years.
Since I was packing in a carry-on (obviously!), I chose styles in a simple color palette that easily mixed-and-matched, giving me days of options with just a handful of pieces.

I’m having a moment with warm browns, so I was immediately drawn this Beyond Yoga set. Their materials are incredibly soft and comfy, but also performance-based for a range of activities and exercises.
It was over 100 degrees, but the tank was light and cool, and the leggings pulled sweat away and dried quickly. I love how smooth the waistband is, too… it stays put and doesn’t dig or roll down at all.

Everything I packed was black, brown, and white, so I created endless combos depending on the day’s activities and heat level.

Nordstrom even carries my beloved Spanx AirEssentials… my go-to for travel and lounge. I wore these new joggers for our longer drives, and I was so comfy!
Fit Tip: I typically wear a size Small in Spanx pants, but I prefer my joggers to be cropped, so I’m wearing a size Small-Petite.

This Vuori pullover is a long-time fave, I own it in several colors from years’ past. It’s great for throwing on with activewear, or just your favorite sweatpants. This new color pairs great with both black and brown, so it’s super versatile!
Fit Tip: I prefer an oversized fit it, I sized up to a Medium.

This lightweight tee was great protection from the sun, without making me hotter. It’s also longer in the back, so covers the bum with leggings, which is always a bonus!
Also, after years of resisting the belt bag trend, I finally caved and got this one for the trip… and I’ll never go back! It was so nice to have a small space for my sunglasses, key, phone, and sunscreen!
